🎬 ~ Talk to Me

rating: 8/10

i knew going into it that this movie would be more atmospheric and psychological, lesser on the horror side, and i wasn't disappointed. it was a good movie. it did what it came to do. i was glad to catch the foreshadowing/parellel w the kangaroo lol. the only thing that i found odd was the sudden absence of daniel in the last scenes after him having such a prominent role in the movie. i would like to watch it again sometime. i had fun hehe. my first a24 horror film <3 poor riley tho :(

🎬 ~ Shrek

rating: 10/10

watching this movie felt like i took Isd and my brain went on an acid trip. at no point in this movie could i have predicted what was about to come next. donkey rizzing up a DRAGON?? fiona suddenly pulling out ninja moves?? had me FLOORED. i was not expecting shrek to have a scottish accent either. i thought it was irish at first but nope. perhaps it has to do with ogres originating from scottish folklore/mythology. but i must say, donkey is the MVP of this movie. i lost my mind at the colorblind joke—paused the movie to laugh my ass out. jokes aside tho, for a movie made in 2001, this still remains relevant and has aged well, if at all. it is, in my opinion, the quintessential gen z movie. the plot, the characters and the world itself have a lot of heart to them. but damn wow this was a great and funny movie, and it was short too. it truly did feel like a fairytale in the same way The Princess Bride did. let's see how pussinboots is after the next movie.

🎬 ~ Enola Holmes 2

rating: 8.25/10

ladies, tewkesbury has rizz. i lost it when he started talking Imao louis partridge's voice is so deep now. ugh they're good together in this movie. I PREDICTED QUITE ACCURATELY THAT SHERLOCK WOULD FIND HIS WATSON IN THIS MOVIE AND HE DID!! and i was so proud to have deciphered mira troy's name as an anagram of moriarty hehe i'm so smart thank you spy kids 4 for teaching me what an anagram is. and that moriarty reveal had me FLOORED. i love the plot and mystery of this movie tbh. the way both enola and sherlock's cases are connected and how it gradually unravels was great. i genuinely hate it when the detectives infodump at the end of the movie exactly how everything is connected (looking at you glass onion) instead of letting the audience connect it themselves slowly throughout the movie, so in terms of pacing, yes i appreciate and like this very much. it's a good sequel in my opinion. just wish i could've finished it in one sitting lol but i doubt i would've been okay seeing enola embarrass herself at the ball at 2am while everyone was sleeping, like girl pls don't.

🎨 ~ See You In My 19th Life

rating: 8.25/10

surprisingly high rated?? i fully expected it to fall off in the third act and it kinda did but it was done the way it could've been?? i'm fine with this tbh it's cute. also the way i accurately predicted that doyun and jieum were twins Imao i did it accidentally but i had fun. about 10 or 20 chapters in the third arc had poor translation so i was confused for a while but meh idc. seoha is such a cutie (he's a sub IJUSTKNOW) and it's refreshing to see an assertive and confident female protagonist so i like jieum a lot. doyun and chowon won my heart—they were so adorable and the buildup to their relationship was so angsty lol. but it all worked out so i'm happy. i'll see how the drama works out if i decide to watch it.

πŸ“Ί ~ Heartstopper (Season 2)

rating: 10/10

how does one manage to make two 10/10 seasons in a row? wow. that last scene w nick and charlie has to be one of my favorites EVER from every show i've ever watched. ALICE OSEMAN ΞœΞ‘'Ξ‘Ξœ Ξ€HE FEELINGS YOU GIVE ME W THE WAY YOU WRITE THE MAIN RELATIONSHIP. they're literally so healthy and cute and the literal poster children of a comfort couple. i don't have much to say coz i love this too much lol i just want this show to keep getting renewed every year for a dose of good happiness and serotonin.

πŸ“Ί ~ Heartstopper (Season 1)

rating: 10/10

honestly, even though i've watched this second-hand through reaction videos before, this is such a great feel-good show. the music and cinematography are beautiful and i love the way it's shot. the story is consistent and the pacing is perfect for me. alice oseman really knows how to write her characters. they're are all so loveable (except the ones that're not lol). that first kiss btwn nick and charlie always gives me FEELINGS. they're so adorable and cute. i want what they have so bad. honestly, i haven't got much more to say. i look forward to seeing more of the cast in season 2, esp elle and tao. kudos.

🎨 ~ Chainsaw Man (Part 1)

rating: 7.75/10

i binged it within 24 hours and honestly? it was...fine, i guess. i understand the hype kinda, but i don't get why it's so overblown? maybe i don't have enough media literacy to decipher the themes and meanings of this story. the story wasn't what i expected it to be—i had a different image in my mind with how the plot was gonna go and this wasn't it. i feel like this manga fell into that trap of what i call the "solo-leveling effect" in which after a certain point everything just unravels in a very unearned(?) way. the part after power died was... weird. and makima died, just like that? what?? idk man i felt weird abt it. i really do feel like the slower pacing of the anime does this story more justice. can't wait for season 2 fr.

🎬 ~ Kuch Kuch Hota Hai

rating: 7/10

zaym mama it be kinda overhyped yikes. the first half was great but i feel like it fell off in the third arc and the ending was too rushed. there was also a couple things i felt like were problematic and kind of pissed me off (like the basketball scene in the latter half of the movie) and i understand how this movie could've been culturally significant but it's also very *insert skull emoji* sometimes. BUT I DID SHED A TEAR OR TWO LMAO ESP IN THAT TRAIN SCENE where anjali's like "bro i'm leaving fr" and rahul goes "yea leave then" in a very petty way and the look on his face when the train horn goes off and he realises "oh wait she's leaving FRFR" AHHHHHHHHHHHH i was feral bro i understand ok this movie does things to ppl. i was just against the way anjali was uhh sexualised? and honestly let's be real here, there was an underlying connotation of women being undesirable if they weren't traditionally "feminine" or "docile"—idc if this was fictional and is a movie, that is one of the reasons this movie is so culturally significant and it shaped the indian mindset. aside from that YES TINA UGH I WOULD LOVE HER TOO SHES SO SLAY but she's also a mary sue so i would hate her irl Imao girl's got no flaws.
