📺 ~ The Boys (Season 1)

rating: 8.25/10

well shit. idk how much i exactly remember but i'll try my best to communicate my thoughts.

i feel like this show excellently conveys a subversive viewpoint of what could be the good "bad guys" and the bad "good guys". the external opinion in-world would be different as to what we as personal viewers know, and this is probably my first time seeing a concept like this carried out—that too in a well-executed manner. i love how the show absolutely does not hold back in being dark and gritty, which reminds me somehow of this being kind of a more r-rated version of dc (even though you'd argue that dc is already r-rated). the cherry bomb scene lives in my head rent-free coz that is absolutely what i would've done. the characters are complex, compelling, and in homelander's case, downright repulsive. as a superman anti and injustice fan, it is so cool to see an unredeemable psychopath of an overpowered superhero going against more grounded non-powered individuals and how that power dynamic plays out. i'm curious to see how the rest of the seasons play out, especially with the cliffhanger at the end of s1. but best be sure, i'm not picking s2 up anytime soon yikes. good show tho. definitely one of its kind in the current oversaturated superhero media market. also, the cinematography and the score are great.

📺 ~ Sweet Home (Season 1)

rating: 10/10

hohoHO BABY. this was extremely unexpected—it's like this show took everything i hated or didn't like in the manhwa and subverted, changed, or removed it to make it better, and sure, it has a few jarring moments here and there BUT I CAN AND WILL OVERLOOK THEM IN FAVOUR OF THE POSITIVES. i started this sometime in the beginning of january and it's the 22nd rn so i took my sweet time watching it. BUT it was glorious hehehe.

yikyung was a happy new addition. i loved her tbh (and that bod tho wow-) everyone was pretty cool. i didn't expect eunyoo to be aged up but it is what it is. i don't rlly care abt her yikes BUT THAT LAST SCENE WITH HER SCREAMING FOR EUNHYUK BRUH BRO THAT HIT WHERE IT HURT AND EUNHYUK'S "DEATH" (idk if he's dead) IT WAS SO WELL DONE THAT ENTIRE SCENE LIKE FJDJDJFHDJJE I WAS SHEDDING TEARS LEFT AND RIGHT IN THE LAST EPISODE.

also ALSO i rlly wasn't expecting the evil guy frm reborn rich to be the jesus guy in this show LMAO he was so sweet and his death is singlehandedly one of the greatest scenes i've ever watched like bro that entire elevator sequence was top notch, and his death had WAYYY more meaning in the show than the manhwa. yuri and sangwook dying like that was so sad. even old man ahn and dusik bro pls and finally, our main man. CHA HYUNSOO, this was my first Song Kang drama BUT he did NOT disappoint. tbf he's the perfect hyun. HE'S SO CUTE TOO BRO I WANNA SQUEEZE HIM

tanisha said that s2 and s3 were confirmed and i wasn't expecting THOSE LAST 5 MINS TO BE SO COOL LIKE OMG BRO THE SETUP FOR S2 WAS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL 10/10 DESERVED BRO FJFJDKEKA. AND THE POSSESSED SANGWOOK PLOT TWIST FHEJDJSJDN ΑΗΗΗΗΗ the exclusion of the weird cocoon plot was A GOOD CALL and even tho i didn't want the whole criminals invading plot, i feel like it was well-done here and added better stakes than the manhwa.

📖 ~ Writers & Lovers

rating: 5/5

yea...uhh. felt like it fr. i remember coming across this book in early 2020 near the beginning of my book discovery phase and being intrigued by it. and i also remember downloading this book on a whim during the initial days of annual report practice—it was the morning of practice and i was trying to eat breakfast and then z-lib had shut down lol. i was annoyed. let's cut the sap and get to the review.

casey peabody—awful last name, and personality is too ambiguous. idk who she properly is at all aside from an anxious and horny ball of .... anxiousness and depression ig. yk what ok i know a bit of her personality ig. oscar's kids were cute but oscar himself was shite tbh. i mean, not overtly but i got weird uhh how to say this umm dismissive-ish vibes from him. SILAS. i want a silas in my life bro. the one i can be comfortable and free with. lol casey getting so horny she can't walk straight after kissing him was amusing. most of all, what connects me to this book was the writing aspect of it. not the writing itself, but casey's journey as a writer. it's cathartic?? idk but it's just this whirlwind of awful things happening to her and then slowly it all gets better at the end. she's got her happy ending—and i'm proud of her. loved the way boston came alive in this book. it rlly did feel like a whole character by itself. the iris employees, the nice ones at least, felt like a smol family together haha it was nice.

aside from all that, ngl, the initial reading experience was horrible. i was bored a lot of the times because the pace is really really slow. i didn't even know what the book was supposed to be abt coz i went into it blind and halfway thru i had to go back and read the summary to properly get what this book was tryna do and after that i rlly did get a proper idea. slice of life is not my cup of tea but i do appreciate it. i want a physical copy of this book now coz uwu despite the absolutely shite reading experience at the beginning, i seem to have developed a sort of soft spot for this book. it's not for everyone, but i appreciate it.

📺 ~ Reborn Rich

rating: 9.75/10

wow i'm so confused as to what to rate this lol. n e way. YAYY!! 2023 is off on a high note. this show was mad and i loved it. i told abeer it reminded me of Your Throne and the similarity between dojoon/ hyeonwoo and medea is uncanny lolol except the fact that dojoon doesn't do illegal stuff. man i got reminded of that one iconic comment—"Eros thought he was playing connect 4 when actually Medea was playing 16D chess." i love this kdrama for that, the family feuds were insane lmao. i never EVER thought that they were unnecessarily extending the plot bro like- THAT'S SO RARE. AND OII BOY that full circle moment in the final episode, wah. i'd like to applaud this kdrama.

the relationship between the grandfather and dojoon was rlly good bro. that scene after the grandpa's death where dojoon is watching the video in his office and literally that entire scene bro. i LOVED IT. (let's also raise a toast to that RLLY RLLY CUTE GUY WHO PLAYS YOUNG DOJOON FJDJSJSK <3333)

bro yoon hyeonwoo is so hawt bro. and jin dojoon too but I PREFER YOON HYUNWOO IS THAT BAD. all-in-all, one of my fav shows frfr. made me want to work a corporate job lol. loved it.

📖 ~ We Are Okay
