🎬 ~ Mission: Impossible

rating: 6/10

watched it a few days ago and forgot to write this review. ethan hunt in glasses gives sm nerdcore. he's hawt asf. the plot was very convoluted tho so minus points for that. some setups were clever. i thought hannah was the traitor lol. n e ways, iconic as this is, i don't have many good things to say for it. hopefully later movies will prove to be better.

📺 ~ Bridgerton (Season 2)

rating: 8.75/10

LISTEN—the rating only went down because of the b-plot w the featheringtons that i absolutely did not care abt and looked like it was only present to fatten up the run-time. but kate and anthony? yes. YES. goodness gracious, the enemies to lovers slowburn was so drool-worthy. i was giggling and smiling at midnight. i get the hype behind them. they are each other's equals, are always toe-to-toe, and understand each other intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally. this relationship is PEAK. i did not know how the drama w edwina was gonna go and i wasn't aware she was this involved in the plot but DAMN did it make the angst and pining so much more enhanced. eloise's relationship with theo was also so cute. i hope they pull a second-chance romance trope coz i really want to see more of them. back to the main couple, the way anthony expresses his desire for kate with his words is swoon-inducing. "you are the bane of my existence and the object of all my desires" SIR??? it was wonderful. hype was well-deserved. the only thing that bothered me at the end was miss kate's acting but ehh i'll forgive it ig. solid second season, and definitely my favourite (so far) <33333

📺 ~ Bridgerton (Season 1)

rating: 9/10

i give zero fuxxs about any historical inaccuracies because frankly, this was my first time watching a period romance and i'm here to only see what i have in hand. and honestly, it ate. i liked watching it immensely, even though i had to watch the last 30 mins of this season in 2x speed—but that was more because i was exhausted and just wanted it to be over so i could go to sleep. it's rare to see a show where each character possesses sm personality. the relationships genuinely make you root for the ones involved, and no character is inherently bad. eloise and penelope remain my favourites, although all the bridgerton siblings are equally as lovely imo. i can't wait to see where we go w the future seasons. i am most looking forward to seeing penelope and colin in s3 (edit 2025: you'll be sorely disappointed, darling). next up, kate and anthony.

🎬 ~ Housefull 4

rating: 4.5/10

this movie is the point where this very hilarious and beloved franchise stops making the jokes and becomes the joke. the story is cringey, the deliberate fanservice moreso, and the performances left much to be desired as unremarkable as they are. i kid you not, i would not be able to tell the two lead actresses apart aside from kriti sanon (and kriti playing "kriti", chuckle-inducing as it is, it's also lazy writing). they possess neither personality nor any meaningful interaction or emotional complexity with their counterparts—it's all so painfully superficial that the story suffers for it. this movie also loses the best part of the housefull franchise: its memorable dance numbers. i cannot recall the beat of any songs that were in this movie. tho as much as i criticise it, i must give some credit to the clever wordplay that remains a staple of this series, even if sometimes their application may appear forceful just for the sake of being there rather than being smart w it. the past sequences were infinitely more interesting than the modern day ones, which says to me that the movie doesn't know its true audience and loses its way by trying to please everyone, and in turn pleasing no one.

🎬 ~ 12th Fail

rating: 10/10

one of bollywood's best, and also a gem among today's films. the story is careful, cohesive, and never once goes on a sidequest that is irrelevant to the plot. films that don't have deliberate fanservice are among my favs, and this delivered. as a humanities kid myself, i was touched and made anxious seeing the process and struggles of a upsc aspirant, so much so that it sat w me long into the night after i finished the movie and even in my dreams. it's a surefire way to get you motivated to study. the last scene has the best payoff, esp after seeing the main protagonist struggle sm. dare i say, it even made me emotional. the film does an excellent job of capturing the atmosphere of the situation, as is evident by the interview scene. loved this movie—would highly recommend.

🎬 ~ Sijjin

rating: 4/10

predicted the plot twist from miles away. for such a low-budget movie, the fx makeup and stunt ppl were pretty good. the kid and the mother didn't deserve what they got but the father and the aunt were absolutely abhorrent. since the black magic is done in an actual way the movie also had that factor of "what if this curses us irl" which inspired dread when i was watching it lol. but anyways it was an ehh movie.

🎬 ~ Jack Reacher

rating: 7/10

plot and scenes were solid and all but this movie just wasn't my cup of tea. rosamund pike is as good as always. tom cruise felt a bit weird tho, esp w the outta nowhere slut-shaming. i also found it odd that the one black guy turned out to be working for the villain. all the old white men in the movie looked the same to me so i wish they all had more distinguishing features. action didn't feel all too exciting to me. a bit underwhelming. but it's a detective story and it did its job ig? didn't like that rosamund pike had to become the damsel in distress at the end tho. typical.

📺 ~ Invincible (Season 2)

rating: 10/10

ANOTHER STELLAR SEASON!?!? IN THIS ECONOMY!?!? guess this show really is *cue title card*. so many shocking moments, which were surprising for sure but totally in line with the tone of this show. i honestly love this and this remains one of my favorite shows so far because of the plot and also its characters. my only gripe has been how stagnant mark's powers are, like bro grows emotionally for sure but damn he learns ZERO tricks to try to win a fight. all his other evil counterparts seem to be strong, so what makes him different from them? these questions need to be answered. there's such a big power imbalance between the good and the bad that idk how it'll end. another thing i really loved was the gradual development (or rather breakdown) of mark and amber's relationship coz it made sense. i'm a hardcore mark x eve gal and I WAS SERVED CRUMBS NO MATTER HOW SMALL THEY WERE. and i also have reason to believe they're endgame WHICH I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT. another unexpected thing was nolan? he's scum of the galaxy imo but it's wild to think that he's not rlly the antagonist here. "i miss my wife" being the last words of this season shook me lol. DEBBIE DESERVES BETTER—my girl has been thru SHITE. everyone needs a hug tbh. excited to see where else this goes.

🎬 ~ The Italian Job

rating: 8/10

i watched Players as a kid, which is basically the bollywood remake of this movie, so i predicted most of the story since they're so similar. but i still had fun watching. the heist was smartly done. charlize theron drifting her mini-cooper was insane and badass. cornelius snow's appearance was unexpected, and also baldie action guy was a surprise, but twas all good tbh. only reason i'm not 100% behind it was coz ed norton was a weak cartoon-ish antagonist lol. i like more realised characters. but this is a more plot-driven action movie so understandably characters are not the big focus. also knowing how certain parts of the story were going to go made me be not so surprised w the action and developments. makes me wanna watch Players again tho. we'll see.

🎬 ~ Gran Turismo

rating: 9.75/10

GOOD JUICE, MY GUY! I LOVED THIS! the movie DELIVERED in EVERYTHING. perfect pacing, plot, and characters. u should've seen my confusion when i realised it was orlando bloom on my screen. paxton from Never Have I Ever was suddenly a racer, and the 6'5 queer cousin from Saltburn was the protagonist (it took david harbour commenting on his height for that to dawn on me) (also archie is such a good actor for being able to pull off these two drastically different characters so effortlessly). zufee bhai know some racetracks and cars so it was cool when he recognised the german track lol. the only thing i found unbelievable was how fast orlando bloom convinced the nissan execs of the sim-racer idea coz no way bro. i found it unbelievable and it took me out but i was like lemme suspend my disbelief. every other aspect of the movie was chefs kiss tho. the cinematography was really REALLY good—the cars, the colors, the lighting. also the tension>>>. i predicted the car crash thing coz ik how writing works but it was more brutal than i imagined. like that car flipped so many times—it literally FLEW bro. and david harbour just RUNNING to the meds; my jaw was on the floor. i was shooketh. experiencing this in theatres must've been good asf. it's so cool to know that all this ACTUALLY happened. the photos at the end were cool. this was slay. loved it. would recommend, definitely.

📺 ~ Our Flag Means Death (Season 2)

rating: 6.75/10

like gomens s2, this was also more character focused. love the way stede has come into his own as a pirate as compared to the beginning of s1. ed's character confuses me a bit tho. i'm aware that a lot of his character is in subtext but i suck at media literacy lol. i feel like he might be uhh a depressed adhd adult lol. but it is true that stede and ed balance each other out. the most surprising part of this season was izzy. man, i felt a bit sad at his death. the crew had really come together as a family and izzy genuinely cared abt them and vice versa. loved his little monologue abt found family that he gives to ricky in the finale. i also lament buttons' absence coz he's one of my favorite characters lol. i might have a teensy tinsy thing for frenchie hehe WHAT HE'S CUTE OKAY. pretty sure he's captain of The Revenge now and honestly, i respect it. curious to see how the final season will go (edit 2025: sweet summer child i hate to shatter your dreams, but this was the end of the line).

📺 ~ Our Flag Means Death (Season 1)

rating: 8.25/10

did i think we'd be romancing BLACKBEARD HIMSELF? no. but did i immensely enjoy it? YES. maybe i didn't expect the show's writing to be so good but it surpassed my expectations for sure. stede is a surprisingly well-written character, and even blackbeard—or ed, rather—had interesting depth to him, which i hope will be explored more in the next season coz it left me wanting for more. the crew is absolutely hilarious and a colorful cast of characters. they all grow on you hehe. the finale was an interesting end. can't wait to see more of ed and stede in the next season.

📺 ~ Good Omens (Season 2)

rating: 7/10

most definitely a more character-focused season, so i'm afraid my cravings for a good plot were not satisfied. but i'd be a big fat liar if i said i didn't kick my feet in the air and shed tears during the last 15 mins of the finale. my heart felt torn—i was devastated. but i'm so glad there's one final season left (edit 2025: about that...). YES NEIL PLSPLSPLS FEED THIS PEASANT YE NOBLE CRYPTID (edit 2025: aged like milk). i got more than my expected share of aziracrow moments during different points in time, which i found was sorely lacking in the first season, but i was thoroughly satisfied. i LOVE their timeless dynamic—it truly is the heart of this story. the entire confession scene just nails u in the heart. although i must say, i was confused by the actors of sister mary loquacious and madame tracy playing different characters in the same universe. idk if there is an in-story explanation for it or a production explanation, but regardless, it threw me off a bit. anyways, master character work. crowley and aziraphale truly have my heart in a CHOKEHOLD and i can't wait to see what the final chapter of this story holds <33
