a relationship between a 15 yr old and a thirty-something uhh miss me w that shi. i thought it would be more nuanced but it came off as superficial to me. there wasn't enough development between the two characters, and the emotional beats don't land as good as they should. i fail to understand the point of this tbh. the visuals and animations are beautiful tho. i didn't realise that so many of the pretty gifs i've used over the years came from this movie. rather than a movie, i think this is a simple short film. kinda overrated in my opinion tho.

🎬 ~ Anatomy of a Fall
rating: 10/10
a beautiful movie. i understand why this was among the most talked about films last year. it's special not in a bombastic way but more in its subtleties. it's not a courtroom drama or a thriller—it's just a moment in a family's life where something goes wrong, not that it ever was truly right, but a moment where years worth of small things result in a tragic consequence. daniel's monologue as he reiterates his conversation with his father in the climax of this movie was beautiful in the most sad way, and it is also what cemented this movie for me as a great one. snoop was an adorable dog. poor baby had to suffer in the last half. vincent and sandra's chemistry really got me, palpable yet somber through the screen as it was. on technical aspects, i loved the instances where handheld camera footage was incorporated into the cinematography and how it wasn't heavy on music, which made the silence speak for itself because this movie is not meant to be dramatic. it's a movie that does not FEEL like a movie, positively speaking. a round of applause for everyone involved—they did their job and they did it well.

🎬 ~ 1920: Horrors of the Heart
rating: 0.25/10
it's such a stupid movie, i don't even wanna write a review abt it. worst thing i ever watched. this film had ZERO budget. i fell asleep in the last hour and the plot was so stupidly convoluted anyway that i had no desire to keep going through it. the 0.25 is coz one scene made me laugh out loud very boisterously (*daughter has sex w her bf* *ghost of dead father appears outta nowhere* "Î¥AHI HAI TUMHARA BADLA!?!??") green screen was so cheap and awful. it was absurdly hard to take this movie seriously. and the weird ahh exorcist rip-off scenes? ew. if anyone tells me this was their fav movie i'm never trusting u with ANYTHING.

🎬 ~ Hichki
rating: 8/10
i liked the plot and how naina found practical ways to teach theory to the kids. pre-tiktok era jannat zubair's appearance was a jumpscare tho haha she looks so young. i was surprised that 9A's teacher was not a complete vindictive a-hole person and at least had SOME integrity. naina's excellence as a teacher was definitely inspiring tho. made me wanna be a teacher too (a good one). last scene slayed: the way all her og students came back as adults. the casting for the adult versions were so realistic, it was nigh impossible to tell the difference. euphoria level casting haha. anyways, it was an interesting movie fr. i was glued to the tv the entire time. and idk why but the girl who plays oru is so familiar it keeps nagging at my brain—where do i know her from???

🎬 ~ Pearl
rating: 8.75/10
pearl slowly creeping up on mitsy and then picking up the axe and chasing her was absolutely insane and terrifying Imao. the entire monologue at the dinner table has to be one of the best scenes i've ever watched. top ten movie moments for sure. this movie is basically the horrors of girlhood. the prolonged final shot of pearl's face as her smile becomes forceful and her tears stream down her face as the credits roll was >>. this film should have cult classic status (bet it already does). pearl humping a scarecrow was wild tho.

🎬 ~ Bhool Bhulaiyaa
rating: 8/10
i remember the climax of this movie being more dramatic as a child. perhaps that is the effect of watching something again when u're older. it was a looonggg film, and while the pacing was good, i couldn't help but think that the horror factor could've been upped a bit. it felt more like a drama tbh. nonetheless, it's a good movie, no doubt being a cultural landmark of indian cinema. vidya balan ate her role up as an unhinged manjulika—absolutely iconic. radha was very pretty and i'm glad she ended up w aditya lol. but siddharth felt like a very uhh weird dude. loved his wife but had insane anger issues so control ur dawgs my guy.

📺 ~ Sasaki and Miyano
rating: 6/10
it was cute for turning ur brain off and just soaking in vibes. i prefer my shounen ai to be angsty and stab my heart and for feelings of realisation and crisis and pining but this was not the show for that. although it was slowburn, it wasn't the type of slowburn i prefer. i understand why it's good but it's just not my cup of tea. it's just a fluffy time. i hope there is a season 2 tho coz i bet there's gonna be something between hirano and the chairman dude. they'd be cute together. ogasawara and kurosawa (along w hirano) are my favourite characters in this hehe. ogasawara is so slay. i love his character design w the blue highlights. n e ways, yea, it was fine. typical high school anime.

📖 ~ A Sky Beyond the Storm
rating: 2.25/5
took me two months to read this coz it was so long and so boring. wasn't hooked at all. i was deadset on giving this 1 star until i came across helene and musa's insane chemistry that made me go googoogaga and the last fifty pages were the best in the entire book. laia is a character who is stupid asf but literally everyone keeps telling her "ohemgee u're so smort gorlie keep slaying" and i go WHERE DAWG WHERE. the elaia edging was annoying not enticing, helene and harper lost 90% of their chemistry, keris veturia's character was fumbled so bad—she had sm potential to be a great villain, and the nightbringer had bpd or sumn coz he felt so comical in parts despite having depth. i feel like so many things happen in this book for plot reasons and not character reasons. people coming back outta nowhere w half-assed explanations again and again gets old after a while. wouldn't recommend tbh. this series as a whole is a 3 stars at most. mid asf imo.

🎬 ~ Hereditary
rating: 9.5/10
impeccably shot and directed, and one of the most genuinely terrifying movies i've ever seen. i can see why this film is considered a modern horror classic. the music constantly evokes a sense of dread and anxiety, the cinematography is masterfully creative, and the actors give the performances of their lifetime. it's a near perfect horror, and i'm sure i would probably give it a ten on a re-watch. congratulations, ari aster. u've established urself as a standout in the film industry, for sure. i'm definitely inclined to keep an eye out for his future catalogue.
🎬 ~ Given
rating: 7.5/10
it was a good movie. ion got much to say tbh. the song ATE. mafuyu devoured the plate left no crumbs. the story was deffo sad, esp btwn the drummer and violinist. the last scene with them getting together was so cute tho. it made me smile when i was depressed haha. this entire story is a stab to the heart. the lowkey NSFW was wild tho lol.
📺 ~ Demon Slayer (Season 3)
rating: 8.75/10
I AM SO SO SO SO SORRY I FORGOT TO REVIEW THIS. I WATCHED IT DAYS AGO AAHHH. aight, here's the review: it's ufotable so ofc the animation and production quality was insane™ like bro, that opening scene w the villains in the infinity castle has to be one of best scenes in the entire anime industry. upper moon two is kinda hawt. i'm very curious abt the story behind upper moon one too. muichiro has to be related to tanjiro. i missed the kamoboko squad tho. i need them back in the next season. mitsuri was absolutely ADORABLE. and nezuko my baby, i was on the verge of crying thinking she died. good job fooling me, u charlatans. tanjiro, ohmygod, he's so good. all those new sun breathing moves are BREATHTAKING. it looks so good deadass, and he's so nice to everyone too. his anger has genuine reason and he's so pure of heart, a green flag through and through. this season was the first time we got to see genya in action properly and i liked him. he's a tsundere type but he looks strong too. upper moon four's powers were so OP and the fights so crazy, i can't wait to see how the ante is upped even further when the fights w the last three upper moons comes up. ugh i'm lowkey itching to read fanfics now. will give more updates when i watch season 4. toodles for now hehe.

🎬 ~ The Idea of You
rating: 6.5/10
ok, admittedly, it was better than i expected. i was expecting complete trash but i got hit with full panic as i thirsted over anne hathaway for almost two hours lol. this movie is for the girls, and not in a straight way. that kiss scene at the piano made me swoon bro. there was sm tension and chemistry between them. the plot was slightly eh but i was ok w the ending. have to give it credit for not being cliche asf. nicholas galitzine tho... listen. i like this guy. genuinely, i loved him in rw&rb and bottoms, but dawg, i feel like his acting is more suited for theatre. maybe it's just because the script was cringe that he had to act cringe too—and it isn't that serious of a movie so i'll bet it was the script. the songs were mid as hell lmao but i have to give kudos to nicholas for singing his shi fr. i thought he possibly couldn't be that good and that he was lipsyncing to someone else Imao. also: graham norton show jumpscare. that's where the entire movie's budget went Imao. and there's this:
nicholas galitzine with facial hair doesn't exist he can't hurt you...
meanwhile nicholas galitzine with facial hair: O_o.
that was so off putting lol. would watch on a girls night deffo.

📺 ~ Solo Leveling (Season 1)
rating: 8.5/10
watched it a couple days ago but forgot to review it so here ya go: it was fun. i was hooked and it was easy to watch. action scenes were insane, animation was peak, and i don't really have any criticisms to aim at it. this is not really a serious story. ik it's just a self-indulgent wish-fulfilling power fantasy, but it is nice to watch. the storyline and pacing was consistent, the soundtrack slayed (which i later found out was made by the same guy as aot and TXT MADE THE OP????? zaym this is loaded), and i can't wait to see more. hopefully this time, everything won't fall off after the jeju island arc.
