🎬 ~ Anatomy of a Fall

rating: 10/10

a beautiful movie. i understand why this was among the most talked about films last year. it's special not in a bombastic way but more in its subtleties. it's not a courtroom drama or a thriller—it's just a moment in a family's life where something goes wrong, not that it ever was truly right, but a moment where years worth of small things result in a tragic consequence. daniel's monologue as he reiterates his conversation with his father in the climax of this movie was beautiful in the most sad way, and it is also what cemented this movie for me as a great one. snoop was an adorable dog. poor baby had to suffer in the last half. vincent and sandra's chemistry really got me, palpable yet somber through the screen as it was. on technical aspects, i loved the instances where handheld camera footage was incorporated into the cinematography and how it wasn't heavy on music, which made the silence speak for itself because this movie is not meant to be dramatic. it's a movie that does not FEEL like a movie, positively speaking. a round of applause for everyone involved—they did their job and they did it well.
