by all means, this show is crazy, and a masterclass in manipulation. i love it. hannibal is the epitome of an intelligent psychopath. mads mikkelsen does a phenomenal job of portraying him. it is fascinating to see how he plays with everyone around him, and how his intentions are so ambivalent. you can rarely tell what's going through his mind. but of course, i also have to mention will graham because he stole the show. sir, you have bewitched me body and soul. lord, i can't even begin to put my thoughts about him to words. such a complex character, such a devastating downhill spiral. it was horrifying to witness how badly hannibal was gaslighting him and as a result, how worse he kept getting each episode. jack crawford is half responsible too. as much as he tries, he's insensitive to most of will's struggles. you know who isn't tho? alana bloom. man, i thought i wouldn't like her all too much in the beginning coz tv writers have a habit of fuxxing up female characters, but by the end of it all, she made me cry lmao. and i was actually really into her romance with will, like, i had butterflies when they kissed (do i wanna be her or be with her—). and initially, i'd found beverly katz annoying but in later episodes i grew to like her and appreciated her friendship with will. i loved everything about this show, except the serial killer of the week situation going on every episode which kinda made it hard to suspend my disbelief because let's be real, there's no way that many serial killers are murdering people and getting caught one after the other, and somehow all of them are somewhere in virginia and maryland. i know it's fictional but i couldn't help but find it goofy. that's the only reason i've lowered the rating here. other than that, bravo. it deserves to be on everyone's top 10 lists. it's masterful writing and production for tv.
