i don't know why the movie is titled as that because the protagonist isn't even an agent. he's just an academic who pissed off a bigot piece of shit and suddenly has a hit ordered on him. i can see why the festival crowd would like this one. as you might know, i'm not experienced with festival cinema but i was still sat for this, even tho it was two hours and forty minutes long. wow. this movie sure takes its time in establishing the setup and experience. it's very slice of life. i particularly enjoyed the scene with the recorded conversation where armando is telling elza about how he met that racist fuckass italian while being part of uni faculty and the scene cuts to the flashbacks. the restaurant scene with fatima was lovely. i love fierce women speaking out against fuckass superiority complex mfs. but it also calls into question the circumstances surrounding fatima's death, whether she succumbed to natural causes or was murdered. the shootout sequence was so good because the entire movie is basically building up to that point. i love how tense it was. i don't know what exactly was the deal with the present time sequences. maybe they really were just researching? wagner moura playing the older version of his own son took me out tho lol. he was really good at it, which is a testament to his prowess as an actor. kinda bummed out that armando was revealed to have been murdered, possibly the same day as his last appearance in the movie coz he seems to be wearing the same shirt. that scene in the park where people are just openly having sex and threesomes was crazy lol. this was my first time seeing wagner moura in a live-action project—he is a FINEEE man. he was phenomenal as Death in the Puss in Boots sequel, which was primarily what made me look forward to seeing his performance in this. i could not shake the likeness he has to pedro pascal from my mind though. it's like a natalie portman-keira knightley situation. the movie was good, i don't really have any complaints; twas just not my cup of tea.
