i'm only now realising that i never wrote a review for this YIKES. i only finished it a week ago so let me try to get my thoughts out. the ending was botched and rushed for sure. i think it threw a wrench in yesuel and yuseong's story. it was a damn shame that we never got to see their relationship evolve after literally the entire manhwa was spent on their emotional development with each other. it was literally the best part of the entire comic and while i was glad to see yuseong fall first and harder, it just... didn't go anywhere. they had such stellar communication with each other too but the narrative didn't allow them nearly enough time. someone extinguished this slow burn before it could come to fruition. it was such a nice manhwa to read thematically too. i definitely see that it's a more nuanced look at what True Beauty was trying to do back in the day because the characters here actively challenge their beliefs and try to change their opinions. already this comic has stellar character work, especially with heewon. she's not a one-dimensional character and instead of taking the easy route and being painted as the obvious villain, she's a smart cookie who recognises her preconceptions to be wrong and changes herself. the makeup looks were so fun to see as well. seonwoo was blegh i hated the guy. BUT THIS COMIC IS JUST SO CUTE I WISH YESEUL'S RELATIONSHIP WITH YUSEONG HAD PAID OFF IT'D'VE BEEN THE PERFECT MANHWA OTHERWISE.
