my second indonesian horror, that i would never have reached for of my own free will (watching grave torture last year traumatized me) but ended up watching it anyways on my cousin-in-law’s recommendation. it started off pretty strong, but it started falling apart midway through the second act and completely devolved into a convoluted mess by the end. rika being the main antagonist at the end was so stupid. there’s SOME foreshadowing about her parentage but never about her bad nature. it’s so out of left field it’s ridiculous. this sleuthing is making me miss the Truly Devious series so much. those were the days. the new book is coming out in two weeks i’m so excited. I DIGRESS. the standout scene in this movie is the one where lela washes her mom’s body while clearly grieving her terribly. it’s such a powerful scene. made me miss my mom. it was so beautiful and heartbreaking. the brother didn’t deserve to die by the end though. every middle aged woman in that village except siti was stupid asf. #justicefornur
