📖 ~ The Titan's Curse

rating: 2/5

boohoo i fuxxin hated it. i have zero interest in this series and it isn't even for my age demographic anyways. i just wanted to see what the hype was for and i am not all too impressed but what was i expecting honestly, it's a Children's Book™. the writing is mostly what turns me off. it feels bland to me. at first when i began this book, i was very excited to see nico but then my copy of the book turned out to be faulty and then i had to download an epub and then i js did NOT want to continue reading and it took me over a month (re: year) to finish this book wow. twas meh. percy's down badness for annabeth was kinda funny tho i admit. so yea, that's it for my review.

📺 ~ Arcane (Season 1)

rating: 9.45/10

i've tried to start this show at least three different times before finally watching the rest of it, so that probably affected my experience here lol. also i had a very different idea in my head about where this show was gonna go so i was a little surprised by the direction this took, not in a bad way tho. twas still good. production-wise, this show is a masterclass. the score, cinematography, the animation: crazy fuxxin good. the story too ate so hard. this is how u humanize characters and make the audience understand their reasonings. they're all deeply flawed. vi and caitlyn got me blushing and shi in ep 5 lmfao. first time i've been so excited to see a lesbian couple onscreen. it did not disappoint. curious to see how jinx and ekko's relationship develops. bridge fight was cool fr. there's lots of queer coding in this show lol. my brain is fried from binging 7 episodes of this the whole day and i'm rlly sleepy so i'll stop my review right here. cool show. deserves the hype.

🎬 ~ Ready or Not

rating: 6.5/10

it was good fun tbh. watched it on a family friend's netflix to pass time. samara weaving is cool asf. her one-liners in this movie are so valid. daniel was deffo my favorite character. he's got this je nais se quois that makes him a vry valid fan favorite hehe. his chemistry with grace was so good. even tho they were both married i would've excused cheating lol. the escalation of events was done well. not much else to say coz i watched it a couple days ago. nice campy movie.

🎬 ~ We Live in Time

rating: 5/10

a little disappointed ig. with such strong leads and an a24 production, my expectations were understandably high. but it's ok, all things considered. it was a good movie, it's just not my thing. i liked the ending, ambiguous as it is, it points to almut having passed away, and andrew garfield's character teaching their daughter how to crack eggs like almut taught him to do was a nice touch. the birth scene was actually well-done. it's such a stressful situation to be in—kudos to the gas station staff who helped them out haha. n e ways, yea, twas cool.

🎬 ~ Monster

rating: 8.75/10

beautiful movie. i loved the multi-pov format of the same set of events and how each of their perceptions differed. it's such a delicate story. ik the ending is ambiguous but there's enough for me to surmise that the boys died in the end. their relationship was so tender and pure and innocent. i'm glad that they found freedom in the afterlife, but sad that they couldn't live their own whole lives together. interesting how every version of events was so different from the other. the trombone scene was brilliant. it being what stops hori from killing himself, and also the way the sound transitions to mugino running to hoshikawa. "i'm normal now" "u were always normal" AHHHHHHH DEAD. the principal's character was interesting ngl. overall, wonderful movie. would love to rewatch it sometime to catch missed details and watch with knowledge of future events ykwim?

🎬 ~ Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3

rating: 4.5/10

i watched it in a sparsely populated theatre at 11pm so it was definitely a vibe and not a bad experience. i knew not to take it seriously and enjoyed most of it for what it was (ofc i was covering my eyes sometimes at the jumpscare scenes lol). i was js so down bad for tripti dimri the whole time. she's so gorgeous and beautiful and hot andndjdjdk ok i'll stop. roohan's chapri ass personality was a turnoff because it was giving ripoff bunny and naina with none of the nuance. ofc vidya balan ate her role up. her screen presence is unmatched asf. that scene where her and madhuri dixit dance in the court to that iconic song—i recorded the entire thing on my phone because i fuxxing loved EVERYTHING about that scene. the colors and set and cinematography: magnificent. but the plot of this movie in the last thirty minutes became so convoluted with one plot twist after the other, it ruined my good impression of the movie. the random ass trans messaging was so out of left field, and turns out manjulilka, this icon of female rage, wasn't even female in the end???? this could've been good bro, but the writers ruined it. major disappointment in the end. i did like one song from the movie, i'll add it to my spotify later. also that one scene where tripti dimri douses herself in gasoline and is abt to burn herself: holy shi bro that scene was so good. the tension, the emotional stakes, the way it was completely silent—if anything, that scene alone is such a wonderful lil piece of film-making, it deserves its own award in some way. honestly there was sm missed potential w tripti dimri's character. if u were going for sm plot twists anyway, they could've made her a ghost reincarnation too, or the actual antagonist of the movie. there were alr sm hints so that it would've made perfect sense for her to be a ghost, like the tv scene where she speaks directly to roohan. man, such bad writing here.

🎬 ~ The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

 rating: 10/10

i cannot fathom rating this movie anything lower than a ten. even though it was a 3hr 48min behemoth, it was masterfully paced—never a dull moment. the beautiful way middle earth comes to life onscreen is a cinematic achievement in and of itself, and the new locations and sights are awe-inspiring. the colorful cast of characters balance very well off of each other. the score, the performances, the effects, the story; i'm afraid i don't have anything but praises for this piece. i can only hope the latter two parts of this iconic franchise keep up the same energy. also legolas is such a resplendent beauty: i completely get the hype.
